None of four candidates nominating in 23 polling station (Gegharkounik Region, Office of Electoral Committee in Sevan Town) touched upon the issue of Lake Sevan in their election campaigns. Satik Badeyan, Chairman of “Center for Regional Development” NGO, having taken part in the elections as an observer told EcoLur about this fact. “We didn’t hear that any candidate would have referred to the problems of Sevan or other environmental problems. Though the biggest problem for today is Sevan,” she said in her conversation with EcoLur, “the lake today is in paralyzed situation, nevertheless, people don’t think over that, their conscience haven’t reach such an extent so as to realize it. The social situation is so hard…”

When touching upon the elections itself, Satik Badeyan said that their organization had 314 observers in Kotayk and Gegharkounik regions. “Our observers have detected violations. We had a phone call from Martouni, which said that the authorized representative of the PPA was beaten. This person turned out to attempt to take the photo of the ballot. He was stopped, a protocol was drawn up and at that very time the scuffle started. We asked Zangak TV to arrive at the spot and when they made an interview, it turned out the authorized representative was OK, the teeth in their place. Thus we recorded separate cases of violations...on the day of the election in the morning, at 7:30, electors were already in the election polls. In my viewpoint they had a such motivation, as they had been distributed money beforehand and people came earlier to show that they gave back their debts and cast their ballots…”.
