A consultation was held at Ministry of Territorial Administration on the problems of irrigation participated by regional governors, Heads of State Committee on Water Economy and Water Users Society on 6 June. Deputy PM, MTA Minister Armen Gevorgyan didn’t exclude that the regime of water supply may be changed to night shift for several communities. He drew attention to the fact that this year Akhouryan water reservoir has 437 million cubic meters, which is by 100 million cubic meters less than that of the last year. The Azat reservoir has 63 million as compare with 70 million cubic meters for the last year, while Aparan water reservoir has 33 million versus 90 million for the last year… this year water outlets from Lake Sevan for irrigation purposes started from 2 May, which is earlier than last year. The water from Lake Sevan is usually let out starting from June. Under A. Gevorgyan, under the conditions to preserve need in water, it may be necessary to make additional outlets from Lake Sevan. For this reason, the State Committee on Water Industry proposes to increase water outlets from Sevan in 2012 up to 320 million cubic meters…”

For our part we would like to mention that water outlets from Sevan for 2012 are approved, 169 million cubic meters, i.e. almost limit quote. According to RA Law “On Approving the Annual and Comples Programs of Activities of Use, Protection, Reconstruction and Reproduction of Ecosystem of Lake Sevan” , the maximum water intake from Sevan is 170 million cubic meters.
