The water intake from Lake Sevan for irrigation purposes passed the statutory-set maximum – 170 million cum water: as of 3 August, already 174.706 million cum water has been taken out of Lake Sevan, out of which 0.741million cum is a non-regulated leak. During the water intake, the level of Lake Sevan decreased by 14 cm from June-recorded 1900.91 to 1900.77 meters. Already additional 100 million cum water intake is in progress.

Reminder: Upon Armenian Government's proposal, the National Assembly of Armenia adopted the bill on additional 100 million cum water from Lake Sevan. Over recent 10 years, it's the fourth case when over 170 million cum water is carried out from Lake Sevan – in 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2014, where a negative balance of the lake was recorded in 2012 and 2014.
