Artsvanik tailing dump is operated by Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine CJSC.

Under the data of “Environmental Monitoring and Information Center” of RA Nature Protection Ministry, the water quality of the Voghji River below Qajaran and Kapan was classified as Category 5, water of the worst quality, in March 2018 as a result of high concentration of molybdenum, copper, manganese and cobalt.

In its estuary the Atchanan (Norashenik) River also has the water of the worst quality due to the high concentration of molybdenum, manganese and antimony.

RA Nature Protection and Soil Inspection informed EcoLur that an administrative proceedings have been initiated based on the alarm signal. Recently Inspection Body head Arthur Grigoryan said the Inspection Body will carry out inspections in the area of Qajaran copper and molybdenum mine as soon as they finish the inspections in Amulsar.
