The Syunyats Yerkir newspaper informs that the number of disabled persons in Kapan with its population of about 45 thousand people reaches 4006. In recent four years the number of disabled persons has continuously been growing. In 2008 Kapan had 3424 disabled persons, in 2009-3629, in 2010-3884, in 2011 – 4017, at the end of first quarter of 2012 – 4006. It turns out that the number of disabled persons annually increases by about 10%. “We have received the reply by Melada Dolunts, Chairman of local medical-social expert committee, how many out of disabled persons (under years – starting from 2008) first received their disability category, which explains the situation somehow. Thus, this number in 2008 was 270, in 2009 – 242, in 2010 – 255, in 2011- 276, as of the first quarter of 2012 – 127 people,” the newspaper writes.
