The level of Lake Sevan has decreased by 9 cm as compared with the last year, as Nature Protection Minister Aramayis Grigoryan said at the press conference on 11 August in “Khosrov Forest” SNCO summarizing 100 days of his holding office. “Under the plan, the level of Lake Sevan must reach the landmark of 1903.5 meters by 2030. Unfortunately, I have to mention that the National Assembly reached a resolution to let out 270 million cum from Lake Sevan for irrigation purposes because of the lack of water. As of today, 130 million cum water has been already let out, and we have a negative balance of 9 cm as compared with the last year,” the minister said and expressed hope that the irrigation season will finish soon and this balance will be complemented. It should be mentioned that 170 million cum was let out from Lake Sevan under the resolution 432-A dated on 23 April 2014, while under the resolution 696-A dated on 17 April 2014 the water outlet from Lake Sevan was made 245 million cum, which is sufficient till 16 August 2014.
