Trees felled down in Yerevan male up 33 million AMD, while the people guilty still remain unpunished…The investigations of the Control Chamber of Armenia showed that “Nor Narekargum” OJSC acting on the behalf of Yerevan purchased 2,782 pieces of Thuja from Iran in the amount of 45 010 000 AMD. The Control Chamber revealed only 1147 Thuja trees planted, as well as it found out that Thuja trees need continuous care and are not suitable for semi-desert and continental climate of Yerevan and they don’t survive during cold winters. The same story was repeated in 2012. It was found out that 4002 Thuja trees were planted in Yerevan areas, out of which 901 had frozen. Within two years the company imported 6679 Thuja trees in the amount of 110,779,000 AMD, out of which 2048 Thuja trees had frozen or dried out. The sum of the damage is 33,357,800 AMD.
