On November 20 around 900 students from 8 higher educational institutions in Yerevan, namely Yerevan State University, Yerevan State Engineering University, Yerevan State Engineering and Construction University. Yerevan State Medical and Pedagogical Universities, participated in fur tree planting initiated by “Vallex” Group Company in a territory of 2,8 ha called “Gharaqotouk Areas” in Teghout and Shnogh Villages.

The Aarhus Convention’s compliance committee in Geneva reached a decision Armenia doesn’t comply with certain obligations imposed on it as a Convention Party. In its decision the Committee proposes the Government of Armenia to take necessary measures to regulate this situation on legislative and administrative level and to take practical measures.

The checkups conducted by the Supervisory Chamber in 2009 detected that Shnogh Village Administration sold 186 ha of its land area to “Teghout” CJSC lowed than the cadastral price which resulted in the community budget lacking 252 million AMD. In 2010 “Teghout” CJSC paid off to the budget and, as a result, the budget increased from 61,7 million to 317,3 million.

Timber is piled up in the football field in Shnogh Village. This is forest cut down in Teghout… Shnogh Village Administration Head Haykaz Kochinyan and Teghout Village Administration Head Harutyun Meliksetyan say their villagers buy timber at a price of 1200 AMD for one cubic meter, while the timber heaped up in the football field costs 12,000 AMD.

The football field in Shnogh Village is full of timber, all in all 4,500 cubic meters. This is Teghout Forest cut down recently for the development of Teghout copper and molybdenum mine. This sight is not for nervous people. You can eyewitness how large pieces of forest landscape disappear from the geographic map, instead bare building grounds appear full of concrete structures.
