The reclaimed tails of “Nazik” tailing dump continue polluting the environment near Akhtala monastery. “Nazik” tailing dump is operated by Akhtala ore processing combine, which was conserved twice, first in 1988 and then in 2010 and then it was reclaimed and trees were planted in the area of the tailing dump.

On 3 October EcoLur working group visited the area of the tailing dump. The photos show that the trees got green, and even the rose hip gave good harvest rich in “heavy metals”. Nevertheless, the rain washed off the ground covering the tails and now the tails have got out of the surface and flow into Akhtala Gorge.
