A new landfill will be built for Yerevan. The results of the first stage of the study of the ecological and social impact of construction of a new dump and isolation of the old one in the capital have been presented in the Municipality of Yerevan. The study was carried out within the frames of the cooperation between the Municipality of Yerevan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) by “Bernard Ingenierure”, Austria by means of the EBRD. The landfill will occupy about 29 ha of land with 60 meters depth which will be divided into 5 zones. Though it’s not mentioned where the landfill will be built, according to the news source there are not trees and bushes in the area chosen for the landfill. The landfill to be built will have a number of infrastructures: it will be completely fenced, will have new roads, appropriate lighting. It will also be airtight and have a special water basin. Due to a special system gas emissions won’t damage the environment. The landfill will have an irrigation system and the environment will always be humid there.
