The 'Yerkir' found out that the garbage dump of Jermuk and Kechout settlements was set up in the territory near to Dali River flowing through Dali Gorge 10 years ago. It should be mentioned that waters flowing along the dumpsite flow into Kechout reservoir.
‘Arpa-Sevan’ Tunnel Operation Department Head Vanik Mrtchyan told us in his interview with us, “Several years ago there was some fuss around this dumpsite and the urban authorities built a concrete protecting wall.”
Our studies, as well as the photos show that there is no construction resembling a protective wall, while environmentalists and hydrogeologists assure that one day the staff accumulated in the dumpsite may flow down to the Dali River thus intoxicating not only its water, but also the water in Kechout Reservoir and Sevan.
“I can assure you that the water in Kechout reservoir is clean,” said Vanik Mkrtchyan.
