“The only way out for us is the water of Lake Sevan. We used to take water from Sevjur River, but as it has already dried out, we can’t use it any longer,” said Aknalitch Village Head Gevorg Misakyan in his interview with EcoLur.

Aknalitch has 13 deep wells, out of which one is used for drinking, the others for irrigation purposes. Under Village Head Gevorg Misakyan, it won’t be enough for the irrigation needs of the cultivated land areas in the village. “Our land areas are poor, and we spend more water than the standards… We need water in August and September …Vegetable crops are expected to be irrigated 16 times, but if we water them 16 times, we won’t have any harvest, we have to water them at least 30 times…Our harvest is our children’s food…We want to have water very much…” said Aknalitch residents and added, “Let the government think where to take water from.”
