From reliable sources it became known that since 1 January 2010 all the prolongations of contracts on renting the land areas around Sevan, re-registration of documents etc have been suspended. Most probably, the Government intends to take a final decision in regard to the aforementioned problems.
The industrial fishing must be completely forbidden for 3-4 hours. Chairman of the Committee on Lake Sevan Issues at the President Vladimir Movsisyan expressed such an opinion at the meeting with non-governmental organizations on 1 February. Vlaimir Movsisyan agreed that the mechanisms should be changed. In his opinion, licenses for hunting must be issued not to individuals, but to collectives for 10-15 years. Contractual obligations should lay down not only the amount of hunting, but such obligations as, for example, ensuring fish reproduction at own expenses. Mechanisms for control should be determined again.
