The landfill site in Charentsavan is smoking: nobody estimates and pays for harmful emissions. Every day and every hour toxic substances are emitted into the atmosphere of Charentsavan – nitric oxide, sulphur oxide, phenols, toxic hydrocarbons, carcinogenic dioxides, which are able to impact on heredity, not to mention the compounds of lead, arsenic and other heavy metals. Among them dioxine is the strongest toxic. Nobody pays for these emissions and they are not considered in the figures of total pollution published by the State Statistical Service.
