Court Obligated Environment Ministry To Submit ELARD Investigation Package

On December 5, 2019, the Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia continued the trial of Amulsar Gold Mine Project for the fourth year.

The plaintiffs, the nine residents of Gndevaz village in Vayots Dzor Region, are demanding that state authorities revoke the permits granted to Amulsar project. Responsible parties are the Ministries of Nature Protection (currently the Environment), the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (currently the Territorial Administration and Infrastructure) and the Expert Committee on Lake Sevan Conservation of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. The third party is Lydian Armenia Company implementing Amulsar project.

Plaintiff's representative Tehmineh Yenokyan stated that Judge Karen Zarikyan had reminded about the ELARD investigations for Amulsar mining project and obliged the Ministry of the Environment to submit the entire package of documents to court as a motion and expected all parties to express their position on the document," Tehmine Yenokyan said.

She noted that the next court hearing will be scheduled until February 6.
