On 17 April, Judge of Amulsar case Karen Zatikyan didn’t accept the motion filed by the barrister of “Lydian Armenia” Company Sayad Badalyan in regard to the involvement of Expert Hardner in the court proceedings, as plaintiff Tehmine Yenoqyan informed EcoLur. In this court case, the residents of Gndevaz Village, Vayots Dzor Region, are demanding to annul the permitting documents of Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite mining project and to appoint a new EIA.

In the previous court proceedings, the court decided to involve the expert of “Lydian Armenia” Company Raykin in the litigation. The barrister of Gndevaz residents Hayk Alumyan had presented an objection in regard to the impartiality of the involvement of the experts presented by “Lydian Armenia” Company saying these people receive money from Lydian. Upon the motion of the plaintiff, independent experts are involved in the litigation such as Director of WWF Armenia Karen Manvelyan, Director of Center for Ecological Noosphere Studies of NAS RA Armen Saghatelyan and Seyran Minasyan, PhD in Chemical Sciences.

In the course of the trial, Judge Karen Zatikyan asked the representatives of RA Nature Protection Ministry what their opinion is in regard to the involvement of Lydian’s expert and they replied they have no opinion.

The next court hearing is appointed at 14:30 on 20 May.
