At the press conference held on 24 May, “Armenian Environmental Front” Civic Initiative presented the process of court proceedings related to Amulsar project. The main speakers were AEF members Levon Galstyan, Anna Shahnazaryan, Ani Khachatryan and journalist Tehmine Yenoqyan.

Under the speakers, “Lydian Armenia” CJSC developing Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite mine had issued 9 civil claims to court. The collective claim on damages has been rejected. Out of 7 administrative claims, 3 claims are against RA Environmental and Mining Inspection Body, two are against RA Police and 2 claims are against State Committee of Revenue.

According to the claims issued by Gndevaz and Jermuk residents, currently the claims against RA Nature Protection Ministry and Ministry for Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources and RA Nature Protection Ministry is being tried.

The speakers mentioned that videos and posts threatening, intimidating and discrediting AEF members are disseminated on social networks through fake pages. They highlighted that law enforcement bodies don’t perform any relevant actions in order to prevent and to hold liable the owners of the fake pages. In their opinion, in the case of Amulsar human rights are put lower than the interests of corporations.
