Inspections in Amulsar Launching from 6 July


On 6 July RA Nature Protection and Soil Inspection Body will launch the inspection in Amulsar gold mining project area. In his interview with EcoLur, Inspection Body Head Arthur Grigoryan said that the inspections are planned to be held within 10-day timeframe, but they may be prolonged, if needed. The Working Group formed under Inspection Body will also join these inspections.

The working group consists of the group issuing professional opinions and the group substantiating these opinions and assisting in the organization of inspections.

Professional opinions will be provided by the representatives of RA Nature Protection Ministry, Ministry for Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources, Ministry of Emergency States, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economic Development and Investment, Ministries of Finance, Culture and Agriculture, WWF Armenia, Center for Environmental Noosphere Studies of NAS RA, Geologist Harutyun Movsisyan from YSU, Armen Hovhannisyan from Yerevan Polytechnic University and lawyer Nazeli Vardanyan.

The supporting group includes ‘EcoLur’ Informational NGO, “Investigative Journalists” NGO, member of Armenian Environmental Front Levon Galstyan, civic activist Anna Shahnazaryan, and residents of affected communities Mihrdat Nersisyan, Hasmik Sargsyan, Aharon Arsenyan, Armen Vardanyan and Tehmine Yenoqyan. The representatives of Lydian Armenia Company will also be involved in this group.

The process of construction works will be studied, as well as the EIA, the environmental impact assessment issued to it, the documents necessary for being issued reserve confirmation process and permits.

Arthur Grigoryan informed that after Amulsar the next inspection will be held in the area of Qajaran copper and molybdenum mine.
