The Ministry of Environment will set the maximum annual limits for fish and crawfish use and industrial fishing in Lake Sevan and its drainage basin. The Ministry is proposing to allow unlimited fishing of the carp, maximum 150 tons >35 cm/>500 gr whitefish fishing except for December and January, maximum 350 tons of >9 cm crawfish hunting except for June-August. Since 2016, the government hasn’t provided any funding for the recovery of the fish reserves in Lake Sevan: this function is vested on Lake Sevan Trout Reserves Recovery and Fish Breeding Development Foundation. In its turn, the Foundation states that the young fish it lets out is caught.
