24,353 square km or 81.9% of the territory in Armenia (omitting Lake Sevan and the mirror surface of reservoirs) is exposed to different degrees of desertification. The areas exposed to heavy impact make up 26.8% of the total area of Armenia, strong impact – 26.4%, moderate – 19.8% and weak – 8.8%.Only 13.5% (4006 square km) of the territory in Armenia is not exposed to desertification, as “Raising Awareness of Citizens on Desertification, Soil Degradation and Drought in the Republic of Armenia” report says.
