Friendship Park Established in NAS RA

A Friendship Park was established on 29 April at Botanical Garden of NAS RA. Around 300 trees have been planted in the area of 1 ha by the guests and employees of Institute of Botany of NAS RA. The event was participated by Matthias Kiesler, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Armenia, Igor Nazarul - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Armenia and the representatives of research organizations of NAS RA, ministries, international organizations, HEIs, NGOs and mass media.

Zirayr Vardanyan, Correspondent Member of Institute of Botany of NAS RA, particularly said, 'We have activated our international cooperation with many botanical gardens worldwide and as a result, we could have sufficient number of achievements in individual directions of the botanical garden. We have established a museum and a bank of seeds, as well as a charity fund 'Support to Botanical Garden' was established with the support of advanced researchers in the institute. This is the first event organized by the fund.'
Academician-Secretary of Natural Sciences Division of NAS RA, Academician Ruben Harutyunyan stated that Institute of Botany of NAS RA, which includes Botanical Garden, will be named after Armen Takhtanjyan.

WWF Armenia Director Karen Manvelyan, Member of Board of Trustees of 'Support to Botanical Garden' Charity Fund mentioned that the Botanical Garden is important as a center for education, research and conservation of plants.

'Support to Botanical Garden' Charity Fund President Sargis Aghayan mentioned he most valued to see the Botanical Garden as one of the most visited places in Armenia.
