"Green" Solutions for Small and Medium Businesses

Sustainable development without environmental degradation is the model of the green economy of the new direction formed at the end of the 20th century. One way to advance this concept is through the Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) method.

The Armenian experience of using the RECP method was presented during the conference "Resource efficiency, green solutions for sustainable business in Armenia" held in Yerevan.

The project is dedicated to the promotion of circular economy and resource efficiency in Armenia. The goal is to support businessmen engaged in various production activities, to develop business proposals for them, because of their integration, they will save resources and at the same time have greater economic benefits.

Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Armenia, emphasized the importance of the project. "The EU supports Armenia's transition to a circular economy. If you want to succeed, to become competitive in the international market, you need to become more environmentally friendly, adopt a long-term policy,” Frank Hess noted.

Tatyana Chernyavskaya, Head of RECP project, official representative of UNIDO, mentioned that the RECP method is universal and allows to develop solutions for various fields. Application of the method can reduce the harmful effects of production, reduce costs.

The official representative of UNIDO highly appreciated the work of those Armenian enterprises that applied the RECP method and achieved success.

Nune Harutyunyan, National Coordinator of RECP project, presented the outcomes of the project. Within the framework of the project, assessments were carried out in 32 enterprises, 15 of them were also audited. Business proposals were developed for 8 small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
