“Barev Yerevan” Alliance is going to create green Yerevan instead of stone-built desert. The environmental part of Alliance’s election program for the elections to Yerevan Aldermen’s Council says this, which is called in the same way, “Green Yerevan Instead of Stone-Built Desert”. “Barev Yerevan” Alliance will be guided by creating wide parks and wide-scale recovery of tree-covered territories and rest zones, as well as with Alexander Tamanyan’s “City-Park” vision-concept. Policy priorities in this field are as follows:
•Expanding the green zone in the capital – up to m2 for each person instead of current 6 m2. At least 8-10 new parks with a total area of 100 ha in the downtown and each administrative area.
•Ban on the alienation of green zones within Yerevan owned by the community,
•Doubling the sum designed for the preservation of green zones in Yerevan budget for 2013,
•Transition from flower planting to establishing parks and gardens and their care,
•The gradual freeing of central and suburb parts from concrete buildings owned by private entities, which have been built with the violations of law,
•Cessation of any site development and recovery of the following territories cooperating with “ArmForest”: the part left out of Norq forest, the part left out of “Victory” park, the forest-covered zone located between old and new quarters of Avan, Dalma Gardens and other green territories by developing special programs for recovery and preservation.
