Clima East Expert: Let's Hope USA Won't Leave Paris Agreement

US newly-elected President Donald Trump still in his election campaign promised to refuse from the Paris Agreement adopted in 2015, which will be aimed at combating Paris Agreement. Nevertheless, international experts still hope that Trump won't take the US out of this worldwide process.

'Let's hope the US won't leave the Paris Agreement, but we don't know to what extent it will take part in the global process funding. In any case, I don't think that they will get out. Let's not forget that big players, which are G20 participants, are responsible for 80% of global emissions. I don't think that they will be so unreasonable to say we are not interested what the others or how they develop. Let's not forget that the agreement also includes the time period after 2020, which the UN defines as a period of sustainable aims and includes all countries,' 'Clima East' project expert Tomash Khrushchev expressed his opinion in his interview to EcoLur.
He also said that out of big players China has already ratified the Paris Agreement, while Russia is in the process of ratifying it.

Reminder: in December 2015 the world leaders adopted a new agreement on climate change in Paris, which leashes the increase in global temperature within 2 degrees Celsius seeking not to exceed the range of 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Under this agreement, the US, being the second country after China with its extent of greenhouse gas emissions, has obliged to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 26-28% by 2025 as compared with 2005.

A Green Climate Fund has already been established to fight climate change, which shall be replenished by 100 billion USD every year starting from 2020. The funds shall be directed from developed countries to developing countries for the financial and technical support of the measures aimed at climate change mitigation and adaptability in developing countries.
