In response to the proposal submitted by Community Mobilization and Support Center NGO on the issue of waste available in Akhtala Community, RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure informed in its letter no LSH/26.2/15751 dated on June 10, 2020.

“In 2018-2019, RA Environment Ministry carried out a study of abandoned landfills and closed tailing dumps, which also included Nazik closed tailing dump and the waste accumulated in the areas adjacent to the tailing dump. Excesses in the maximum permissible concentrations of vanadium, chromium, nickel, copper, arsenic and lead were recorded in the samples taken from the soil cover of Nazik tailing dump. As a result of field trips, the absence of a layer of soil covering the closed tailing dump, covering the accumulated waste and preventing the spread of waste was recordded in the area adjacent to the Akhtala River. The issue of financing the work aimed at reducing the impact of waste on the environment was presented within the framework of Midterm Expenditure Project for 2021-2023. In case of presenting clear programs with your financing, we are ready to discuss the possible directions of cooperation.”
