Law Enforcement Bodies Refusing to Run Proper Procedure to Environmentalist Arthur Grigoryan's Application

On 31 July 2017 Environmentalist Arthur Grigoryan reported a crime to the Prosecutor-In-Chief of Armenia Arthur Davtyan, on the crime allegedly committed by Vahe Albert Hakobyan, Syunik Regional Head, where individuals and organizations registered as a public union and acting on behalf of civil society may also be involved.

Facts were submitted together with the report on the crime, which contains particularly wide-scale corruption risks. In the alleged corruption processes, representatives of business entities and people dealing with public activities may be accomplices.

Taking into consideration the public significance of the phenomena described in the report in the protection human rights defenders and people dealing with public activities, the Human Rights House Yerevan is condemning the abstained attitude of the law enforcement bodies and the factual refusal to study all the facts and arguments submitted in Grigoryan's report, to carry out complete and objective investigation of the case.

The Human Rights House Yerevan finds that the law enforcement bodies should investigate the case properly informing the society about all the details and ensure the protection of environmentalists' work from the shadow intervention of state and business bodies.
