Serzh Sargsyan Elected Armenian Prime Minister


Today at the extraordinary session of the National Assembly on 17 April, the leader of the Republican Party of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan was elected as the Armenian Prime Minister with 76 votes for and 17 votes against.

Serzh Sargsyan's second office term as the President of Armenia expired on 9 April, where the Ex-Ambassador of Armenia to the UK  Armen Sargsyan held the office of the fourth President of Armenia. The  Government headed by Karen Karapetyan resigned. 

It should be mentioned that it's already the fifth day "My Step" Initiative has been carrying out protest demonstrations against Serzh Sargsyan's administration. The initiative is headed by Head of "Yelq" Faction, Member of "Civic Agreement" Party Nikol Pashinyan. On 17 April he announced about launching a democratic, non-violent, velvet revolution.
