On March 6 the Armenian government adopted a decision toissue a license to “Armenian Nuclear Power Plant” CJSC for reprocessing, neutralizing, storing, transportation and disposal of hazardous wastes. Under this decision, Nature Protection Ministry, Health Ministry and Ministry of Emergency States will exercise supervision over the reprocessing, neutralizing, storing, transportation and disposal of hazardous wastes.
In the past the radioactive wastes of the Armenian nuclear powerplant were sent to Russia, but the railway connection failed because of the blockade, and radioactive wastes were stored in the territory of the nuclear power plant.
