Head of Yelk faction Nikol Pashinyan has been elected a Prime Minister of Armenia.Pashinyan was elected with 59 MPs voting “for” and 42 “against” during the special session of the National Assembly on 8 May.

Born on June 1, 1975 in Ijevan.

1991 - Entered the Department of Journalism of the Faculty of Philology of the Yerevan State University. 1995 - Withdrawn for journalistic activities.

1994 - 1995 - Journalist of the dailies “Newspaper,” “Newspaper Day” and “Molorak” (Planet).

1998 - 1999 - Chief Editor of the “Oragir” (Diary) daily.

1999 - 2012 - Chief Editor of the “Haykakan Zhamanak” daily.

2006 - Founder member of the social and political initiatives “Aylyntrank.”

2007 - Listed (the first number) in proportional list of “Impeachment” alliance.

2008 - Member of the pre - election headquarters of Mr. Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

Since 2015 - Founder member of the party “Civil Treaty.”

2012 - 2017 - Member of the National Assembly (proportional electoral system, ANC). Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly. Member of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration and Local Self-Government of the National Assembly.

September 14, 2012 - February 7, 2013 - Chair of the Ad-hoc Committee on Ethics of the National Assembly. Member of the “Armenian National Congress”

faction.

April 2, 2017 - Elected Member of the National Assembly by the territorial electoral list of the electoral district #4 of the “Way Out” alliance of parties.

May 8, 2018 - Elected Prime Minister of Armenia.

Married, with four children.
