Six locations in Armenia, where industrial-scale photovoltaic power stations may be constructed are known: 3 out of these locations are located in Gegharkounik Eregion – Mets Masrik and Gagarin and the other three in Aragatsotn Region – Talin and Dashtadem and in Armavir Region – Merdzavan community, as 'Investment Programme of Construction of Photovoltaic Power Stations in Armenia' document says, which the executive approved at the meeting at the end of 2016.
In selected sic locations it's possible to construct photovoltaic power stations with aggregate capacity of around 110 MW. Spanish 'Aries Ingenieria' consulting company has already carried out and submitted techical and economic rationales for two out of six selected areas – 'Masrik' and 'Dashtadem'.
It has been estimated emissions of carbon diaxoside will be reduced annually by 48428 tons due to the operation of all six stations.
The total value designed for the construction of all stations makes up around 129 million USD.
The selection of photovoltaic power stations has been implemented by the R2E2 Fund, which has drawn up the solar map of Armenia together with an international consulting company.
