Alexander Qananyan, a scholar and a public figure, and Mher Poghosyan, a resident of Stepanakert, who have been boycotting HPP construction in Artsakh, stopped their hunger strike on February 4. After the hunger strike, Alexander Qananyan posted on his Facebook page:

The first phase of the struggle to stop the HPP construction is over. A representative committee has been set up to examine the compliance of the design and operation of existing SHPPs with legislation and environmental standards. The abovementioned allows me to make the decision to strike out. At the same time, I reaffirm that all claims made by the population of Qarvachar, formulated by me and stemming from the national security imperative of Armenia are fully in force.”

Mher Poghosyan posted on his Facebook page:

“I am convinced that only the Committee and the limited scope of its investigation will not allow to obtain a complete picture of the SHPP damage. I urge and demand that the same committee be sent to other regions of Artsakh, particularly Qashatagh, where the situation is more catastrophic.”
