As of the end of 2022, 60 solar power plants with a total capacity of 204.8 MW have started producing electricity in Armenia. Seven solar plants with a total capacity of 81 MW are under construction, as it is mentioned in the annual report of the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission for 2022.
According to this source, the number of autonomous energy producers at the end of 2022 made up 10,282, the total capacity accounted to 197 MW.
During 2022, 189 SHPPs with a total capacity of 389 MW were put into operation, 19 SHPPs with a capacity of 77 MW are under construction. As of January 1, 2023, 56 SHPPs no longer have a guarantee of electricity purchase by the state. These small hydropower plants produce a total of 201.6 million kWh of electricity annually and sell it on the liberalized electricity market.
As of 2022, there are 4 wind farms with a capacity of 4.2 MW, 1 wind farm with a capacity of 4 MW is under construction.
The sales tariffs for electricity delivered from renewable energy plants were revised in November 2022. The new tariffs entered into force on January 1, 2023. As a result, electricity tariffs delivered from a total of 56 solar power plants, 3 wind power plants, 1 biomass power plant and 136 small HPPs decreased by 10.77-15.47%.
