Verin Tsaghkavan Village, Tavush Region, uses the water of the Hakhum River for its irrigation purposes and is under the impact of two SHPPs. In their interview with EcoLur Verin Tsaghkavan residents mentioned that SHPPs don't make any obstacles for the irrigation of rural land areas.
'There are two SHPPs, one in the upwards and the second is downwards. Our village doesn't think that SHPPs do damage,' said Verin Tsaghkavan resident, 'They stop their operation during irrigation seasonl, so they don't disturb the irrigation.'
'The SHPPs don't disturb us, whenever it's needed they give us water, when not they produce electricity for all of us. Both are benefits for us,' Verin Tsaghkavan Villager said.
In reply to the questions whether SHPPs implement social programs for the community, thevillagers said they are not aware.
