Human and Nature: Eternal Conflict or Harmony? EcoLur’s New Video

EcoLur has released a new video titled “Human and Nature: Eternal Conflict or Harmony?” The video explores the growing tensions between human activity and the natural world. Human encroachment on natural habitats, illegal hunting, the spread of invasive species that threaten native populations, and climate change are all putting numerous plant and animal species at risk.

In Armenia, the natural food chain of the Brown Bear-a species red-listed in Armenia-has been disrupted. Rural areas with easily accessible, diverse food sources have expanded and encroached upon the bears’ natural habitats.

In recent years, Vayots Dzor Region has seen a rise in bear incidents: bears have entered villages, destroyed barns and beehives, attacked livestock, and damaged orchards. In the video, local residents and municipal officials speak about the damage caused by bears and discuss mitigation strategies introduced through Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) project.

The video was produced as part of Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) project, which is funded by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and implemented by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Caucasus and Armenia offices in partnership with Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO.
