Ecological Disaster In  Siberia: Over 3 Million Ha on Fire, Army To Be Involved under Putin's Decree

For over one week around 3 million ha of forest is on fire in Siberia, Russia. As the official website of the RF President informs, the army will be involved in the fire extinguishing works. Because of fires, an emergency state has been declared in Krasnoyarsk region, in Irkutsk, partially also in Buratia and Yakutia.

According to www.svoboda.org, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region Alexander Uss said that tackling forest fires in Siberia is ‘meaningless’ and ‘sometimes even harmful’ in the city of Divnogorsk on Sunday.

According to www.sibreal.org, RF Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev arrived in Krasnoyarsk and held a consultation with the local authorities. He mentioned that extinguishing fires is the responsibility of the local authorities. According to the RF Prime Minister, there is no danger threatening people’s lives, but the spread of the fires shall not be allowed
