The working group established under Prime Minister’s order for the introduction of responsible soil management policy is launching its activities in Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine in Syunik. The regular session of the working group was held on 6 November. As the Group Coordinator, Head of Inspection Body Arthur Grigoryan said, the inspection checks at Zangezour Combine have already launched and the inspection timeframe has been prolonged due to huge volume works to be performed. A working group has been formed from the representatives of the local active society and the local administration of the impacted communities, which held a meeting in Kapan. In the course of the meeting, remarks and observations were made to the format and status of the expert opinions worked out by the members of the working group on Amulsar gold mining project. As we know, the government has received 13 expert opinions from the working group and a package of relevant comments from Lydian Armenia Company where inspections had been held.
The matter on the status of the expert opinions is important as RA Nature Protection Ministry has invited a foreign company to issue an opinion on Amulsar project impact on the water in parallel with the activities of the working group. Whose expert opinion will be the ground for the governmental conclusions is still unclear for the experts involved in the working group.
