RA Nature Protection and Inspection Body Head Arthur Grigoryan on his Facebook page responded to RA Nature Protection Minister Erik Grigoryan’s statement on the studies held in Amulsar gold mine area.
Reminder: At the press conference held on 7 August, RA Nature Protection Minister Erik Grigoryan claimed that the working group of RA Nature Protection Ministry, which had carried out a new investigation in Amulsar area, didn’t detect the availability of the red-listed species stated by Inspection Body.
In his turn, Inspection Body Hear Arthur Grigoryan said, “Information has been disseminated that the working group having been established to detect Apollo butterfly “... the group... including the inspection... carried out examinations on 4 August, as a result, they brought protocols which say this area doesn't have the plant that the butterfly spawns on, so it can't be considered as the habitat of the butterfly...”
I would like to state officially that the representative of RA Nature Protection and Inspection Body didn’t carry out any “examination” and s/he couldn’t have done this, as s/he is not an expert in this area. The representative of RA Nature Protection and Inspection Body merely took part in the visit made to the mine and signed the report recording the fact of the visit.
The inspection continues holding the viewpoint that Artavazdes and Tigranes peaks in Amulsar, where the fact of detecting red-listed species has been proven undeniably as a result of the inspection, is the habitat of these species unless the opposite is proven based on profound and actual examinations.”
It should be mentioned that RA Nature Protection Ministry conducted an examination in Amulsar area after the inspections, as a result of which the ministry was proposed to annul the expert statement issued to Amulsar project. The Inspection Body carried out inspections in the course of 20 days, while only one day was sufficient for RA Nature Protection Ministry.
