RA National Assembly in its session will discuss the matter on making its mining sector more open and transparent. According to the Armenpress, such a decision was made at the meeting of RA Standing Committee on Economy.
'Since 2017, Armenia is a candidate country for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). By joining the EITI, we are committing to make our mining sector more open and transparent. We are proposing to define the concept of real owners, at the same time, defining the range of people having a political impact. We have defined the cases of interconnection between legal entities, as well as between legal entities and natural entities. We have also determined the range of the information to be registered in the single register on the legal entity having the commitment to reveal the real owners. We have also regulated the procedure on submitting declarations by the real owners, registering the real owners and term of making amendments in the register,' RA Deputy Minister for Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Vardan Gevorgyan said.
