On 21 December 2018, the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan City should have tried the claim filed by 'Lydian Armenia' CJSC against Levon Galstyan, a member of Armenian Environmental Front. Nevertheless, the court hearing has been adjourned upon the plaintiff's proposal.
According to defendant Levon Galstyan, the court hearing had been adjourned as the barrister of 'Lydian Armenia' CJSC has filed a motion to the court that the plaintiff wants to specify the claim and proposes to postpone the court hearing, The judge has met this motion.
In her turn, the barrister of the defendant Mariam Mkrtchyan has responded to the claim and communicated their position in regard to the subject matter and the demands of the claim.
According to the claim, on 13 July 2018 Levon Galstyan gave an interview to civilnet.am website where he presented 'a number of data on the company not complying with the reality and discrediting the business reputation of the company', which was later shared on his personal FB page and the Facebook page of the Armenian Environmental Front.' The company is demanding from the environmentalist to refute it and compensation of 1,000,000 AMD.
In his interview with EcoLur, Levon Galstyan said he doesn't accept the allegation and thinks it's a method to exercise pressure on him.
It should be mentioned that besides Levon Galstyan, 'Lydian Armenia' CJSC has filed court claims against 28 citizens to the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Ararat and Vayots Dzor Region.
The next court hearing on Levon Galstyan's case is appointed at 10:30 on 25 January 2019.
