A resident of Vahan village in Gegharkunik Region is beating an alarm signal that a stone pit has been opened in front of the village in the area called Vardan stone, which has polluted the water supply to Vahan village. “The water in our village comes from the mountains and accumulates in the reservoir. The village uses that water for drinking. This mine is near the reservoir. Now the water in the reservoir is polluted, but people have to use it because they have no other way out,” EcoLur's interlocutor said.
EcoLur sends an alarm to the RA Environmental and Soil Inspection expecting to receive answers to the following questions:
• On what legal grounds does the stone pit described in the alarm signal work?
• Does it have an expert opinion on environmental impact assessment?
• How was the damage assessed in the reservoir contamination and what measures were taken to prevent the contamination of the reservoir?
