The Investigative Committee has received the opinion of “ELARD” expert group on the impact of Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite mining project. At the regular cabinet meeting on 8 August, the Chair of RA Investigative Committee Hayk Grigoryan said that the translated version of the opinion will be submitted to the Government next week – Monday or Tuesday.
In reply to Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan’s question whether the expert opinion is subject to publishing, Grigoryan said that according to the provisions of RA Criminal Procedure Code, the expert opinion is subject to publishing after the parties familiarize themselves with it. Hayk Grigoryan also presented that the reason for the slowing down of the expert opinion were questions arising in the course of the expert assessment, which needed clarifications and carrying out additional examinations.
“In general, through the body carrying out the investigation “Lydian Armenia” has provided around 300 documents upon the demand of the experts, which all needed to be translated from Armenian into English and vice versa,” the Chair of RA Investigative Committee Hayk Grigoryan said. He noted that on 28 June “Lydian Armenia” company provided its comments and clarifications on the initial opinion on geology and water resources, and based on that 12 additional questions were raised by the experts.
“The final opinion with the appendixes has entirely been translated into the Armenian by the relevant department of the Investigative Committee as of 6 August, it’s edited, the total volume of the translation makes up 341 pages,” Hayk Grigoryan said.
