Chinese "Fortune Resources" Company held drilling works in the territory of 120 ha belonging to community owners. The Head of Hrazdan Bureau of ANC Mesrop Mesropyan informed about this to EcoLur. In reply to EcoLur question whether there were any negotiations conducted with the owners, he answered that no talks were held at the official level. “The company arranged with those who were dissatisfied and paid them a sum of money equivalent to that amount if the land owners would grow their grass in this territory, that’s it. No document was signed. We will continue our fight. We don’t have such territories we can yield to mining industry. These land areas have agricultural significance and the law has already been violated in this regards. The photo taken by EcoLur shows how the agricultural land areas are drilled out. Next to it is the irrigation aqueduct of Sevan cascade running to Ararat valley. This is 50 meters far away from the prospecting place and if the mine is developed, the dust will get accumulated on the aqueduct,” Mesropyan said.
