Government Didn’t Approve Bagratyan’s Project on Offshore Zones and Mining Companies

At the meeting on 2 May the Government turned down project “On Regulating Activities of Companies Operating in Mining Sector and Registered in Offshore Zones.”  The project had been submitted by MP, Chairman of “Liberty” Faction, Ex PM Hrant Bagratyan, which aims to reduce shadow incomes of the mining companies. The government is also worried with the risks that the business entities in the mining industry evade taxes. The bill is problematic in terms of the viewpoint of law and won’t be effective in terms of risk management. In its turn, the government has submitted to the parliament draft law “On Transfer Price Formation” and is going to submit draft law “On Making Changes and Amendments in RA Code “On Soil”, which will be effective. Besides, PM Tigran Sargsyan stated that “we should have offshore companies, which invest into Armenia and export the products…”
