The loan repayment deadline for the modernization of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant will be extended.
At its sitting on December 12, the Government approved the suggestion of signing Protocol Making Amendments to Agreement of February 5, 2015 On Granting State Export Loan to the Government of the Republic of Armenia for Extending Lifetime of Nuclear Power Plant in the Republic of Armenia signed between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation.
The loan agreement with Russia provides $ 300 million to Armenia, out of which $ 270 million is a loan and $ 30 million is a grant. According to the amendments, the Armenian party will use the loan in 2015-2021. The Armenian party will repay the loan amount used for 2015-2019 within 10 years. The first loan payment will be made on January 15, 2020 instead of December 31, 2019. And the loan amount used in 2020-2021 will be repaid in 8 years. The first loan payment will be made on January 15, 2022.
