The dry spent fuel storage facility of the Armenian nuclear power plant will be operated up to 2020. As the RA State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee by the Government informs, the government has granted a proper license for the operation of the fuel storage facility valid by 2020. The storage facility is classified as NUHOMS-56 located on the Armenian NPP site. NUHOMS-56 is placed into horizontal storage modules (HSM). DSFS consists of 11 horizontally placed concrete modules for storage of 616 spent fuel assemblies.

In 2005 the National Assembly of the RA based on proposal from the Government of the RA made decision to extend the DSFS. It will enable storing 1890 fuel assemblies at least 50 years.
