Case of Selling Community Land Areas by Ex Gndevaz Community Head and His Son To Lydian Armenia To Be Tried in Court

On May 5, 2020, at 4:00 pm, Yeghegnadzor City Court will consider the case of selling the community lands by Ex Gndevaz Community Head Hayrapet Mkrtchyan and his son to "Lydian Armenia" CJSC.

In connection with the case of abuses committed by Hayrapet Mkrtchyan, Ex Gndevaz Community Head, Vayots Dzor Region, a criminal case was filed in July 2019. As a result of other investigative and judicial actions in the criminal case, it was found out that Gndevaz Community Head alienated the lands of the community to his underage son through an auction, causing more than 146 million AMD damage to the community.

The indictment published in the judicial information system, Datalex.am, states:  On May 6, 2014, Laert Mkrtchyan participated in the auction organized and conducted by Hayrapet Mkrtchyan in Gndevaz Municipality, where he supported him by making a higher step in front of the land plot under the cadastral code 10-036-0214-0090 and obtained the right to receive it at a price of 410,130 AMD.

On May 26, 2015, according to Hayrapet Mkrtchyan's initial intention, the same land area was sold to Geoteam CJSC, renamed Lydian Armenia CJSC, at an incomparably higher price of 147,300,838 AMD.  As a result, the actions of Hayrapet and Laert Mkrtchyan caused property damage to Gndevaz community in the amount of 146,890,708 AMD.
