Yerevan Municipality has received over 700 alarm signals on stray dogs only over the recent two months. 'Stray Animal Neutralization Center' is planned to establish to solve these issues. The center will have a vet clinic and accommodation. Specialized cars will bring stray animals from different sections of the capital to the center, where the specialists will examine them, vaccinate and sterilize them.

'Judging by all the information we currently have I should mention that there are over 6000 female dogs, out of which 4500 will be sterilized in the first year,' Municipality Environmental Department Head Khachik Hakobyan said.

Under the vet's instructions, dogs will stay in the accommodation from several hours to several days. Then they will be numbered and given to different families and organizations to take care or will be released in the same places.

'Today the city authorities are on the right track: we can't solve the problem with killing animals, as a matter of fact, sterilization is the only mean which will help us not to have stray dogs in the animals,' said Ovsanna Hovsepyan, the founder of 'Dingo Team' NGO and a member of Yerevan Aldermen's Council, as the official website of Yerevan Municipality informs.
