Natural Recovery of Groundwater Resources Ensured Due to Water Amount Saved in Ararat Valley

A total of 1337.3 million m3 or 42.4 m3/s water was saved annually due to the works carried out and measures taken in 2014-2015, which ensured natural recovery level of groundwater resources, which had been disturbed since 2007 because of fish farming development. It was mentioned during the public discussion of the interim report on developing groundwater resources in Ararat Valley held in Nature Protection Ministry.

Besides, according to governmental resolution N 1111 –N, an amendment has been made to the water amounts laid down in water usage permits, if the old water usage permit stipulated 46.4 m3/s in Ararat Valley, including 13.6 m3/s in Armavir Region and 32.8 m3/s in Ararat Region, the new water usage permit stipulates 26.7 m3/s, including 6.2 m3/s in Armavir Region, 20.5m3/s in Ararat Region, i.e. a saving of 19.6 m3/s water amount has occurred.
