Ecosystem Recovered in Armenia for First Time


Ecosystem Recovered in Armenia for the first tme, as Gagik Manucharyan, Biodiversity Policy Department Head, Staff of Nature Protection Ministry, said at the round table entitled “Vulnerability of Ecosystems Conditioned with Climate Change” held at EcoLur Press Club on 12 May.

Gagik Manucharyan presented the project directed to the recovery of Arpa Lake ecosystem, “For the first time it was sought to recover ecosystem in Armenia:  water area over 1.5 km was recovered with establishing unique microclimate, which aided to return and nest many water birds and animals. Currently we are searching for funds to continue this project and to expand it, otherwise we will lose whatever we have constructed.”


The “EcoLur” Informational NGO is organizing series of events aimed at public involvement  and awareness raising targeted to the future climate change policy directions and development of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) of the Republic of Armenia under UN Climate Change Framework Convention (UNFCCC).
