'We should reach absolute transparency of mining sector in upcoming 1-2 years,' Minister for Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources (EINR) Ashot Manukyan said during his meeting with UK Trade and Investment Envoy to Armenia and Georgia Mark Pritchard, MP, and Judith Farnworth, UK Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia. The actions aiming at the transparency in this section are taken in the frames of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). And speaking about the opportunities for Armenia’s joining the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), it was noted that collaboration with the UK embassy will contribute to Armenia being recognized—in 2019—as a country that meets the EITI standards. Also, the minister reflected on renewable energy projects in Armenia, especially the construction of solar thermal collectors, 'Masrik 1' solar photovoltaic station and 'Shnogh' SHPP construction projects. Ambassador Farnworth, for her part, noted that the British government stands ready to make economic cooperation with Armenia grow deeper attracting investments.
